About Me

AJA NISENSON is a singer, playwright, screenwriter and performer. Aja has performed in venues throughout the United States and Europe. Select plays include: Slap (Take Ten, National MFA Playwrights Festival), Park Slope Under Water ( Iowa New Play Festival), Why is this Night Different? (Iowa New Play Festival, ATHE Women and Theatre Conference) The Wait (Iowa New Play Festival), Funk (Iowa Playwrights Workshop), Love (Iowa Playwrights Workshop), Piccola Cosi (FringeNYC, soloNOVA Arts Festival, Triad Theatre), Daja Vu, A French Cabaret Gone Awry, (Eugene O’Neill Cabaret Conference, FringeNYC, Flute Bar Gramercy) My Life is a Woody Allen Film (United Solo Theatre Festival, EstroGenius Festival), Five Years Later (Salem Theatre).  She is a MacDowell fellow and has held fellowships at the Eugene O’Neill Cabaret Conference and the Marble House Project. Aja’s plays have been developed at the Kennedy Center MFA Workshop and Art House’s INKubator residency. She is published in Theater Masters’ Take Ten Vol.4 with Samuel French, and received the 2020 University of Iowa Writers Room Fellowship and Jane Chambers Student Playwright Award.  Aja writes for TV and film.
